Anna* is a 15-year-old high school student who is passionate about tap dancing and plans to attend college to study fashion. She* recently learned that she is 28 weeks pregnant. Anna is scheduled to have an abortion TODAY (Sunday Feb. 14, 2016), and due to the advanced stage of her pregnancy, it will cost $15,500. Anna and her mother are able to contribute $1500.

We first heard from Anna on Tuesday. Since then, we have been inspired by the collaborative support offered by other regional abortion funds, who have collectively pledged $2,300.

While NYAAF does not typically ask our supporters to fund specific clients, we are making an exception in this case for two reasons: First, Anna’s need is URGENT—if she is unable to keep her appointment this Sunday, she will not be permitted to terminate her pregnancy at all under current laws and clinic restrictions. Second, we want to support Anna without compromising our ability to help the hundreds of other clients who will call us this year.
