Thankful for your support this season!

Here at the New York Abortion Access Fund, this holiday season is full of gratitude. We’re so thankful for your support, which has allowed us to serve more people and pledge more funds in 2017 than ever before. We could not have achieved this without you!

We have raised $34,024 to our year-end goal of $75,000 — can you help us reach it by Sunday December 31?

For many people, the holidays are a time of increased financial hardship, which can make abortion particularly difficult to access. This holiday season, you can help ensure that people don’t have to choose between paying their rent and getting medical care. Your gift to NYAAF means that our callers don’t have to.

Now, more than ever, your support serves as an important statement. With your donation to NYAAF, you are affirming that abortion should be accessible to all, and that reproductive freedom is a fundamental right.

Please make a year-end gift today. Multiply your impact by talking to family and friends about abortion this holiday season and encouraging them to make a gift, too.

Wishing you Happy Holidays!
With love and gratitude, The NYAAF Board of Directors

Reflecting on 2014 and continuing to fight for abortion access in NY state in 2015!

Dear friends, allies, and supporters,

Thanks to supporters like you, the New York Abortion Access Fund (NYAAF) has grown tremendously since we made our first grant to a client-in-need back in 2001. This past fiscal year, we pledged $136,401 on behalf of 374 clients living in or traveling to New York State. Your generosity has allowed our clients to access the abortion services they needed and were unable to afford on their own.

While reproductive rights continue to come under attack across the country, New York is a haven for abortion access. At NYAAF, we are constantly reminded of the critical role we play in supporting patients from other states — 31% of our clients last year traveled to New York from another state, often from places where accessing an abortion has become increasingly difficult.

Recognizing an enormous need and constantly striving to better serve our callers, NYAAF embarked on two transformative projects this year. First, we worked closely and critically with an experienced consultant to develop a strategic plan for our development and to determine priorities and best practices for the future. Second, we implemented a new intake model in which highly trained volunteers manage our hotline under the supervision of current board members. Working with our committed volunteer case managers has increased our capacity for calls and has allowed our community to grow in a truly meaningful way. Both projects took a great deal of time, energy, and love – and we are confident that the hard work will pay off as NYAAF continues to improve and grow.

At such an important and exciting time for NYAAF, I hope that we can count on your continued support. Friends like you ensure that we can continue to return every call we receive and that our clients can continue to access the care they need.

Thank you for your commitment to abortion access in our community!

With our love and gratitude,

Your Last-Minute Gift Will Change Lives!

Will you join us in making 2014 NYAAF’s biggest year ever?

In 2013, we pledged $96,716 to help 364 people access the abortion services they desperately needed. As this year comes to a close, we’ve found ourselves overwhelmed by the generous support we’ve received from people like you.

We originally set an end-of-year fundraising goal of $25,000, but we’ve come to realize that together, we are capable of so much more.

To celebrate Roe v. Wade’s 40th anniversary in 2013, we have increased our fundraising goal to $40,000! And the good news is that we’re already well on our way there. You have helped us raise an amazing $32,145 so far!

As the 40th year since Roe v. Wade comes to a close, we consider how far the remaining $7,855 will go to help people access the abortion services they need.

Will you help make these next two days more impactful than we ever imagined?

As we honor 40 years of legalized abortion in the United States, consider making a gift that will hold up the rulings of Roe v. Wade by ensuring that abortion services are accessible to whoever requires them.

Thank you and cheers to 2014!

Facing Challenges

“Staffing the hotline this week reminds me that the importance of abortion access doesn’t go away around the holidays. No matter what’s happening, NYAAF is there to ensure people are able to access the abortion care they need.” – Alison Turkos, NYAAF Board of Directors

Since Sunday, NYAAF has pledged $4,556 to help people who have abortion appointments this week. We are currently facing one of the most demanding weeks we’ve had all year.

But as we come closer and closer to our fundraising goal, we at NYAAF find ourselves immensely grateful for the support we’ve received thus far. The more money we’re able to raise, the more people we can help afford the cost of their abortion. Please consider donating today.

Unsure of how much to donate? Some ideas:

  • $25 for the number of new cases we’ve worked on this week
  • $87 for the percentage of US counties with no abortion providers
  • $350 for NYAAF’s average individual pledge this week
  • $450 for the number of new anti-abortion restrictions passed in 2013
  • $1241 for the amount left until we reach our goal!

Everyone deserves the right to access abortion

Dear friends, allies and supporters,

2013 was an amazing year for the New York Abortion Access Fund and we are so thankful that you were part of it!

This year, we pledged $96,716 to help 364 people coming to New York from 15 states access the abortion services they desperately needed. To support the growing need for our services, we held outstanding fundraisers such as a screening of the award-winning documentary After Tiller, our second annual Celebrate Access Awards, and the most successful Abortion Access Bowl-a-thon to date.

Help us meet our goal today!

We’re over halfway to our 2013 End of Year Giving Campaign goal of $25,000! Our average pledge is $250 so meeting this goal will help many of our clients. Please consider donating today!

Despite our achievements in the past twelve months, 2013 proved to be another challenging year for abortion rights in the U.S. During the 2013 state legislative sessions, more than 450 abortion restrictions were introduced and nearly 70 enacted by lawmakers across the country– including some of the most extreme we’ve ever seen.

Abortion funding organizations like NYAAF were tasked with stepping in to help people impacted by increasingly restrictive laws and ever greater hurdles to access.

In fact, NYAAF served more people in 2013 than we ever have before – but it was a responsibility we took up proudly, due in large part to our many dedicated and unwavering supporters.

We have an enthusiastic set of board members and volunteers, but the ability to do this work depends on people like you. By supporting access to abortion, you are supporting those who are most in need of help.

This year, we ask that you continue to support NYAAF – and that you stand up for the belief that everyone, no matter their income, deserves to access the health care services they want and need.

With our most sincere thanks,

Maureen Stutzman and Alison Turkos
